Molar The Time and Motion Studies (False Walls / fw05)

Peculiar electronic music with strange flowing qualities. Molar is the trio
consisting of Jim Goodspeed (guitar), Matthew Johnson (keyboard, guitar processing), and Lars Fischer (laptop). These three individuals create electronic music that is, for the most part, experimental in nature. Instead of familiar melodies and recognizable song structures, the trio instead opts to create musical soundscapes that evoke odd waves in the brains of the listeners. Particular beats and rhythms are infrequent and/or subtle as the players bend and mutate their oddly layered compositions. Slightly spacey and somewhat drone-ish, The Time and Motion Studies is an album that truly fits its title. Ten odd cuts including "Index," "Pulse," "Chambers," and "Occident." Plenty of excellent mental material here... (Rating: 5)
